Angling and Waterbodies Officer
Lee Valley Regional Park Authority
Waltham Abbey, Essex £27,430 - £29,525 pa, plus flexible benefits
Paid • Full Time • Permanent
Sectors: water & hydrology, conservation & wildlife
Closing date: Friday, 8th April 2022
The award-winning Lee Valley Regional Park stretches an incredible 26 miles along the leafy banks of the River Lee, from Ware in Hertfordshire, through Essex, to the Thames at East India Dock Basin. The park provides a unique 'natural' corridor on London’s doorstep and provides a vital refuge for wildlife. It contains a variety of landscapes and open spaces to enjoy, from industrial heritage sites and nature reserves, to a 1,000 acre country park and Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the Lee Valley Regional Park has something to offer everyone.
We are currently standardising the way we manage our fishing lakes and have an excellent position available for an enthusiastic Angling and Waterbodies Officer. Based in the tranquil countryside location of Waltham Abbey, Essex, you will be part of our Open Spaces team and assist the Ranger Service Manager with the day-to-day management of the Authority’s waterbodies, particularly with regard to operational and technical issues in relation to our licensed fisheries.
The role is a mix of hands on conservation management with a high importance to waterbodies and with mix use including many licensed fisheries so a background or interest in Angling would be of benefit. With excellent communication skills, you will possess a broad knowledge of practical hands-on conservation management techniques and an understanding of balancing angling with nature conservation and public access.
Good interpersonal skills are required to deal with the public, anglers and licensees on a daily basis. You must have a full current driving licence (categories B+E are preferable) and experience of driving large vehicles and towing trailers.
If you feel that you have the right blend of skills for this role, please apply online using the link below or alternatively download an application form and return it to: jobs[at]leevalleypark.org.uk.
